How to knit Cable Stitch:
Multiple of 17 + 3 + 2 selvage sts.
Cast on 22 stitches (17 + 3 + 2 selvage sts) and work according to chart.
The chart shows all RS rows and 1 WS row (Row 8).
On WS rows, work all sts as they appear or as described in the Stitch Key.
The pat rep = 17 sts wide.
Begin with 1 selv st (edge), work patt rep throughout, end with 3 sts after patt rep and 1 selv st.
Description:
Rows 1, 3 and 5: selv st, * 6 sts in garter stitch (gst) (= work K in RS and WS rows), K3, P2, K3, 3 sts in garter stitch, repeat from *, end with 3 sts in garter stitch and selv st.
Rows 2, 4 and 6: work sts as they appear or as described in the Stitch Key.
Row 7: selv st, * 3 sts in garter stitch, C6B (= sIip 3 sts to cn, hold to back, K3, K3 from cn), P2, C6F (= sIip 3 sts to cn, hold to front, K3, K3 from cn), repeat from *, end with 3 sts in garter stitch and selv st.
Row 8: selv st, 3 sts in garter stitch, * 3 sts in garter stitch, P3, K2, P3, 6 sts in garter stitch, repeat from *, end with selv st.
Repeat rows 1- 8 throughout.
