PATTERN STITCHES

Knitted stitch

Wing stitch: over 4 sts.

  • Row 1: * 3 sts. in 1 st. (= in the same cable st. work k1, 1 yo, k1), p3 *, rep. from * to *.
  • Row 2 and all even rows: purl.
  • Row 3: * p3, work 3 sts in 1 st. *, rep. from * to *.
  • Row 4: * k3, purl 3 tog. *, rep. from * to *.
  • Row 5: repeat from row 1.

Groove stitch: over 2 sts.

  • Row 1: * k1, p1 *, rep. from * to *.
  • Row 2 and all even rows: work stitches as they are.
  • Row 3: repeat from row 1.

Seed stitch: over 2 sts

  • Row 1: * p1, k1 *, rep. from * to *.
  • Row 2 and all even rows: knitted stitch.
  • Row 3: repeat from row 1.

Cable stitch: over 4 sts.

  • Row 1: * p2, work 2 sts. leftwise (= knit 2nd stitch passing the right needle behind the first stitch, and, without dropping the sts. from needle, knit up 1st stitch) *, rep. from * to *.
  • Row 2 and all even rows: work stitches as they are.
  • Row 3: repeat from row 1.

Checker stitch: over 4 sts.

  • Row 1. * k2, p2 *, rep. from * to *.
  • Row 2 and all even rows: work stitches as they are.
  • Row 3: * p2, k2 *, rep. from * to *.
  • Row 5: repeat from row 1.

Double crochet

Reverse stitch: work as double crochet from left to right.

GAUGE

  • 10 x 10 cm with needles no. 6 in stockinette stitch = 17 sts. and 20 rows
  • 10 x 10 cm with needles no. 6 working in the different pattern stitches = 19 sts. and 19 rows

WORKING INSTRUCTIONS

Back:
With needles no. 6 cast on 80 (83-86) sts. and work in knitted stitch. To shape the sides, dec. on each side 1 st. every 10 rows 3 times; when work measures 18 cm., incr. on each side 1 st. every 8 rows 3 times. When work measures 31(32-33) cm., to shape the armholes bind off on each end 2 sts. and dec., inside 1 stitch, 1 st. every 2 rows 6 times. When work measures 17 (18-19) cm. from beg. of armholes, for the shoulder slope bind off on each end, every 2 rows, 7 sts. twice, 6 sts. (7 sts. 3 times – 8 sts., 7 sts. twice). Bind off the rem. sts. to shape the neckline.

Front:
With needles no. 6 cast on 81 (85-89) sts. and work in the different pattern stitches following the chart (for size upgrades work on each side 2-4 edge sts.). When work measures 31 (32-33) cm., to shape the armholes bind off on each end 3 sts. and dec. 1 st. every 2 rows 4 times. When work measures 33 (34-35) cm., to shape the neckline bind off the centre stitch working parts separately; decrease centrewise 1 st. every 2 rows 13 times. When work measures 48 (50-52) cm., shape the shoulders to match the back.

Right sleeve:
With needles no. 6 cast on 45 (47-49) sts. and work in wing stitch for 8 cm, then cont. in stockinette stitch. When work measures 25 cm., incr. on each side 1 st. every 8 rows 3 times (1 st. every 6 rows 4 times – 1 st. every 6 rows 5 times). When work measures 40 (42-44) cm., to shape the armholes bind off on each end 3 sts. and dec., inside 1 stitch, 1 st. every 2 rows 5 times; cont. decreasing 1 st. every 2 rows 11 times (work in dec. on edge). Bind off the rem. sts.

Left sleeve:
With needles no. 6 cast on 45 (47-49) sts. and work in knitted stitch for 20 cm. Cont. in wing stitch for 14 cm., then end in stockinette stitch. At the same time, work in the incs. and the armholes in same way as right sleeve.

FINISHING

Sew the shoulders. With crochet hook trim the front and back neckline working 1 row in double crochet and 1 row in reverse stitch. Join and fit the sleeves. Sew up the sides.
